Main Course Selection Page | Required Course Descriptions | Elective Courses
Each grade has set courses required for all students. This page gives you a short list of those courses. For more information, visit the descriptions page.
If you are enrolled in DLI (Dual-Language Immersion) or ALPS (Advanced Learning Placement for Students), those requirements differ slightly.
7th Grade
All 7th Grade students should plan to take the following classes:
- Science 7 class (1 credit)
- Utah Studies (0.5 credit)
- Language Arts 7 OR Language Arts 7 Honors (1 credit)
- A Math Class (1 credit)
- Fitness 7 OR Dance 1 (0.5 credit) (Provide your own lock)
- College and Career Awareness Classes (1 credit)
- Digital Literacy/Keyboarding (0.5 credit)
- Reading (1 credit) Reading proficiency scores from 6th grade will determine if you will be placed in a Reading class. If there isn’t sufficient data to determine placement, you will be placed in Reading until we can test your proficiency.
- 0.5 – 1.5 Credit of Electives
(Students who demonstrate proficiency in Reading will replace that credit with Electives. Email elisabeth.thomas@jordandistrict.org for information on Reading testing.)
7th Grade ALPS
All 7th Grade ALPS students should plan to take the following classes:
- ALPS Integrated Science 7 (1 credit)
- ALPS Utah Studies (0.5 credit)
- ALPS Language Arts 7 (1 credit)
- 7th Math, 7th Math H OR 8th Math H (1 credit)
- Fitness 7 OR Dance 1 (0.5 credit) (Provide your own lock)

- 1.5 credits of Electives
