It’s time to start planning for next school year and telling us what you want. Much like visiting a restaurant, this is your chance to place an order and we’ll staff and build a schedule that supports your orders as best we can. To that end, Course Request cards for the 2023-2024 school year are now available to view on the course-selection page of our school website.
Also available on the website are course descriptions and a slideshow (the dates are different than in the slideshow, but the information on selecting courses is the same) with important information about choosing classes for next year and how to fill out the card. You can also download a copy of the cards now if you want to get a head start.
Please take time to review class options with your students over the next few days. These choices are critical to the creation of a master schedule and having accurate numbers is very important to ensure class availability.
Class changes are very difficult to make once schedules are done so please make choices that you can live with! Teacher staffing decisions are made based on these requests!
Current 6th grade students and parents: Please join us at Elk Ridge Middle School on the evening of Tuesday, January 24th to complete course selections for next year. We will hold two sessions: 5:30pm and 7:00 pm, please attend whichever is most convenient for you. You will receive your course selection cards that night and will be meeting teachers, hearing about class options, and selecting courses for your schedules for next school year. We will also be hosting an immunization clinic that night to help your student be prepared for 7th grade. If there are families in your neighborhood who are attending charter or private schools, but plan to attend Elk Ridge next year, please share this information with them.
Current 7th and 8th grade students will receive a physical copy of their Course Request card during class on Friday, January 20, 2023.
Students should take time to fill out these cards at home with their parents. They may want to take a picture of their completed card with their phone or Chromebook just in case it gets lost.
Counselors will meet with current 7th grade students in their science classes on Thursday, January 26, 2023 to collect cards and help them enter their class choices into Skyward. These students will need to bring their card and white paper filled out to school on this day.
Counselors will meet with current 8th grade students in their science classes on Monday, January 23, 2023 to collect cards and help them enter their class choices into Skyward. These students will need to bring their card and white paper filled out to school on this day.
Please note that classes submitted to skyward are course requests and do not reflect a final schedule. Schedules are not released until August 2023.
